When the 2-day workshop is over, attendees will have a solid understanding of many basic and advanced shooting, lighting and audio acquisition techniques.

Day One: Bridal Preparations & Ceremony Coverage

An entire day will be devoted to hands on coverage of bride/groom preparations and ceremony. Attendees will experience an actual bride and groom during all stages of getting ready. Ray will cover basic and advanced shooting techniques, proper composition and use of creative angles. Use of natural lighting will be explained in great detail. Enhancement tools – (Steadicam, Slider etc) – when to use – and how to avoid over-using. Learn how to acquire key shots quickly and avoid over-shooting.

Day-One (Part 2)

After lunch, attendees will proceed to ceremony coverage training. Attendees will learn how to properly plan for position, deal with possible restrictions and set audio for all aspects of the ceremony. Basic and advanced shooting techniques will be covered. Learn how to avoid common mistakes before it’s too late.

Q & A

This question and answer session will cover everything covered on day-one. Ray will also reveal his “must have” gear list. Avoid over-spending and acquire gear that is critical to any successful shoot.

Evening Session (optional): Brain Picking Time & Clip Review

This session is optional and will allow attendees the opportunity to ask questions about any wedding related topic (either covered or not covered during the workshop). Attendees are also welcome to bring a sample clip for review/ critique (max. 5 minutes).

Day Two: Reception Coverage and Photo-shoot/ Candid Session

Hands-on training continues on day-2 as Ray demonstrates all aspects of reception coverage. Attendees will focus on basic and advanced shooting techniques of the bride and groom entrance, toasts and dances. Learn creative techniques that will enhance the look of stale and repetitive shots. Learn how to create spectacular looking detail and room shots. Ray will also cover various options for acquiring audio from the band/ DJ.

Day-Two (Part 2)

After lunch, we will explore various techniques, angles and creative ideas when it comes to candid sessions/ photo-shoots. No more stale looking posed shots.. learn how to easily interact with the couple, evoking natural emotions, while allowing them to feel more comfortable on camera. These are the eye popping shots that can dramatically enhance the visual experience.

This question and answer session will cover everything covered on day-two.

Day 3 : Post-Production w/ Ray Roman

This optional day of training will focus on shooting for the story and how to avoid common editing mistakes that lead to stale looking productions. Ray will share simple techniques and fundamentals that will undoubtedly take your productions to the next level. Ray will cover workflow and delivery..including such topics as roughcuts, building the story and color grading (basic and advanced).

Day-3 (Part 2)

Join 2009 and 2010 WEVA Creative Excellence “Short-Form Wedding” Gold Award Winner, Ray Roman as he dissects the short-form edit. Watch and quickly learn how to take hours worth of footage and turn them into high-end short-form wedding films. Ray will share his award-winning work with the group and demonstrate the techniques used to create these visual masterpieces. Ray will also share the marketing tools and ideas that have led to his quick success and high dollar clients.
